Leadership Summit #2

Teach For America - Nashville invites you to join members of the 2016 and 2017 corps for their second all-corps professional development day ("Leadership Summit") of the year.

What we have found to be true, is if corps members are Connected, Convicted, Cultivated & Clear, they develop into the leaders we need to have a liberating education for students. Therefore, PD will support corps members into being:
•        Connected to one another and with staff within the corps
•        Convicted about the importance of their role in providing rigorous culturally responsive teaching practices
•        Cultivated in being able to apply these skills directly into practice
•        Clear on what change needs to happen within their practice to expand pathways for students, then students receive limitless educational experiences.

This Leadership Summit will focus on cultivating CLARITY among our corps members while supporting their instructional practice, classroom culture, and leadership development. The fight for educational equity for our students demands a crystal clear understanding of where we are, where we are going, and what needs to happen to get there.. Therefore teacher leaders will leave today building on their clarity through the following:
•         Revisit their theory of change and classroom vision to build on their progress to goals
•         Learn strategies on how to give effective, positive and constructive feedback to students or how to use universal prompts to challenge students.
•         Develop tools to help in whole-class resets, ways to engage students through connecting back to class goals, leveraging feedback from student surveys, etc.

Interested in connecting with corps members and supporting the corps experience? Consider leading a 45 minute session on a topic of your choosing related to the practice of teaching, the movement for education equity, or career/leadership development. We'd love to have you!
